Porcelain Veneers
Thin, custom-made ceramic shells bonded to the front of your teeth.
What porcelain veneers involve
Fine porcelain can capture the delicate translucency of natural enamel. Veneers can change the shape, shade and proportion of the teeth you show when you smile.
A porcelain veneer is a thin, custom-made ceramic shell bonded to the front of a tooth. Shape and shade are planned carefully, with laboratory craftsmanship and clinical assessment working together.
- Custom-made ceramic shape and shade
- Natural-looking translucency
- Generally more stain-resistant than composite
What to expect
Assess and discuss
Assess oral health and discuss alternatives, desired appearance and any preparation required.
Prepare and record
Prepare where appropriate and record the teeth for custom laboratory fabrication. Temporary restorations may be needed.
Fit and review
Assess appearance and fit before bonding, check your bite and agree an ongoing care plan.
Risks, alternatives and aftercare
Treatment availability, fees and clinician provision must be confirmed with the practice. Suitability and results are individual.

What to consider
Tooth preparation is often irreversible. Veneers can chip or debond and may need replacement; sensitivity can occur. Gum health, existing tooth structure and your bite affect suitability. Conservative alternatives should be discussed first.
Caring for your smile
Maintain daily cleaning and regular reviews. Avoid biting hard objects, and follow advice about protection if you grind. Veneers do not prevent decay in the underlying tooth and need long-term maintenance.
